What happens, step by step
Nothing here obligates you until you sign something. Here's exactly what each stage involves and where the real decision points are.

Step 1 — The assessment (2 minutes, no commitment)
Five questions: what you owe, whether you're current, your income, a rough credit range, and your state. We run a soft credit inquiry to see your actual balances and account status. Soft inquiries are visible only to you and have no effect on your score.
What you're committing to: nothing.
What you're committing to: nothing.
Step 2 — The conversation (20–30 minutes)
A specialist walks through your numbers with you and lays out both paths as they apply to your situation specifically — including, where it applies, the option of doing nothing or of talking to a bankruptcy attorney instead.
What you're committing to: still nothing. No fee, no credit impact.

Step 3 — The written recommendation
You get a document naming the recommended path, the cost, the effect on your credit, the expected timeline, and what happens if you do nothing. If a program is recommended, the full disclosure set comes with it.
What you're committing to: nothing. Take it to a third party for a second opinion — we'd rather you did.

Step 4 — Your decision
If you accept a loan offer, a hard credit inquiry runs at this point and you sign a loan agreement with full Truth in Lending disclosures. If you enroll in a program, you sign an enrollment agreement and open a dedicated account in your name.
What you're committing to: this is the real decision point, and the first one.

Step 5 — Execution
Loans fund in 1–2 business days, typically paying creditors directly. Programs begin with your first deposit, and settlements are brought to you individually for approval as they're negotiated.
Your ongoing rights: you can leave a program at any time and take everything in your dedicated account beyond fees already earned. Loans have no prepayment penalty.
